NavigateStorage offers 2 Unified Storage Arrays

A virtualized server infrastructure offers a wide range of flexibility and reliability advantages to environments of all sizes, but in order to make the most of the virtual infrastructure, you need shared storage. Features such as live migration of virtual machines require a shared storage pool, but the advantages of using shared storage in a virtual environment run much deeper.
Supporting a virtual server environment with shared storage:
  • Simplifies management of the environment
  • Provides the data availability required for a virtualized environment
  • Enables efficient backup
Centralize storage and VM management tasks with the IceWEB Storage System. The all-inclusive storage management feature set combined with IceWEB's VM Manager -- a unified management console for controlling all storage-related aspects of a virtualized infrastructure for VMware ESX, Citrix Xen, and Microsoft Hyper-V environments – is a perfect complement to your virtual server environment. VM Manager simplifies day-to-day operations by centralizing all the following storage functions:

One Application, Many Solutions from NavigateStorage

AIMstor requires only a few short minutes to install and setup. Once you create a policy and data flow, you are ready to go. Combining Live Backup and File Version Archive, Continuous Data Protection, Deduplication, and Forensic Monitoring - would be a nightmare with any set of point products. But with AIMstor installed, you can do it in seconds.

The fundamental way of operating AIMstor is to simply drag and drop "operations" such as Backup or Replication, into a Policy screen. Then add your Data Classification, fine tune your selections, such as Retention, Recovery Point Objectives, Triggers and other options, and save.

Policies are real time sensitive, and can be triggered by someone changing a file, creating a file, accessing a file share, or via a schedule. Data Classifications are assigned to files the moment they are created. In this way, AIMstor guides and manages your data through any business process that different departments may impose upon it. Perhaps several departments have different policies for the same set of data, or the same file. AIMstor can help.

AIMstor can accommodate an unlimited number of policy parameters, and then distribute them in real time. AIMstor Nodes can use new policies the moment they are distributed. The result is protection, governance and compliance of data on an entirely different level.

New Technology Creates 1 Minute RPO's with Full Consistency 7/24

COFIO DELIVERS SQL PROTECTION WITH LIVE CONSISTENCY

SAN DIEGO, Calif., June 21, 2011—Cofio Software Inc., a world-class provider of unified backup and data protection software, today announced it has delivered the first Microsoft SQL Server protection solution with continuous consistency for maximizing SQL performance and uptime, and most granular Recovery Point Objectives (RPO), with zero-window backup and deduplication.

Cofio's flagship product, AIMstor 2.4, now provides automatic identification of SQL data on a single machine, or in a network of MS SQL servers, syncs them to the AIMstor repository and uses its continuous source side deduplication technology to transfer data in real-time blocks for the most granular and fully consistent MS SQL Server RPO's available today, with unified replication for real-time server failover as an option.

AIMstor is the first and only solution to fully unify all the key data protection technologies into a single application. In a single policy AIMstor is able to provide:
-Real-Time backups that are synchronized with the applications ensuring full application consistency. Granular recovery points of up to an hour with retention spanning years.
-CDP backups with an "up-to-the-second" image, allowing flexible retention spanning days.
-Real time replication providing immediate secondary image suitable for application failover.
-Touch-once technology enabling Real time backup, CDP and Replication to be used together without any additional CPU or network overhead on the source system.
-Backup and CDP to a common repository provides in-line "common block single instancing", enabling dual technologies to be used without doubling storage.
-Real time capability total removes the backup window.
-Full restore from any incrementals, removing the need for full backups.
-Suitable for low bandwidth environments after initial synchronization

AIMstor can be installed and setup without ANY application downtime. Even the initial backup can be
performed on a live and active system.

AIMstor's latest technological breakthrough includes bandwidth performance enhancements that can
accelerate backups 10X to 20X over legacy backup products, a 95% reduction in storage capacity, and
simplicity for exponential increases in IT management efficiencies. AIMstor can also restore SQL
databases at the disk write and read speeds available, network bandwidth permitting.

"We see lots of customers with SQL backup problems," noted Mike Kornblum of MPAK Technology, a
storage solution provider based in California. "With AIMstor, they get zero window backup, with
recovery points down to one second ago, or one month ago, and recovery speed is amazing. More
importantly, backups are done in real-time, and deduplication is done at source, so the SQL servers or
the network never suffer performance degradation."

About Cofio Software, Inc.

NavigateStorage and Virtualized Storage from Reldata

When I first met Reldata it was about 3 years ago.  They were early in the Unified game.  Yes the had iSCSI and NAS (cifs and nfs) in the same box but the user interface was clumsly/  Well today they have an outstanding "Virtualized Unfied Storage Array" and NavigateStorage is proud to represent them.

It scales seamlessly with no down time.  The RELDATA 9240i, powered by the RELDATA virtualization operating system (RELvos™), is a highly integrated solution that allows for the rapid deployment of IT systems based on networked storage architecture. The 9240i can provision block and file storage through a single automated management interface. In less than an hour, organizations can architect multiple, scalable shared storage pools for on-demand IP SAN and NAS.

So for an example - suppose you have a virtualized server diced up to 6 VM server, some Windows etc.  Reldata's array can offer up storage for whatever VM supports i.e. block for one, NAS for one etc.  It is realy smooth.  Let us set a demo just for you.  I will blow your socks off and the price is right.

Go to our RelData link here and then let us schedule a time convient to you.  If you sign up for a demo on our site, tell 'em we sent you, please.

De-Dup question

A recent Blog reader asked< re "data duplication"

Are they suitable for small retail businesses as well? Your blog is great by the way, you seem to really have a passion for this area! Thank you!

Hate to say it this ways, but it depends.  They fit in business where a de-dup storage device can afford $25,000 and up.
